

Like DigitalPersona, the software for this product integrates with the Windows Welcome screen to allow log-in by finger-swipe. Users can still enter their Windows password to log on. Once logged on, they can self-enroll their own fingerprints. The Eikon reader goes farther than the DigitalPersona by adding a number of security options to this process. For heightened security, you can remove the ability to log on with a password-of course, doing so means that users who haven't already enrolled fingerprints will be locked out. In a multiuser situation with most users having limited accounts (standard accounts in Vista, you can change the overall security mode so that enrolling fingerprints requires permission from an Administrator. #DIGITALPERSONA PERSONAL PASSWORD#Īnd when a standard account user in Vista triggers a User Account Control dialog requiring Administrator permission, the Administrator can simply swipe an enrolled finger rather than typing a password.- Next: The BioMenu and Password Capture Swiping your finger on the reader when another user is logged in will automatically switch to your account, as long as Fast User Switching is enabled.
